Voltage Inc: Be My Princess 2 — Max Review

Marvelle’s Note: This is a legacy review, meaning I found it on either my word docs or my tumblr. I unfortunately do not have the images associated with it anymore. I may do a replay and update this, but for now, there is only text.

No sooner than I buy the Shall We Date? Scarlet Fate and decide to do a let’s play of it, Voltage releases a new character for BMP2! star9

MY WALLET!!! tears2 No fancy coffee for me for the next month…

I… was actually so engrossed in this route that I completely forgot to take screens of all the good parts (hint – there are a TON of good parts). heartglow

Max is a really fun guy. Sure, like all the other May-December relationships in Voltage games, we spend a lot of time with age jokes, but after the first couple of chapters, they wind down.

Max is a really playful guy, and in this route the MC is not only more straightforward, she also meets his teasing with teasing of her own. It’s honestly one of the best routes I’ve read in a Voltage game, and we all know how addicted I am to them. itsreal

The main plot deals with returning the “magic” of the arts back to Charles Kingdom. Max isn’t actually in line for the throne. His older sister is currently queen. However, she is more of a straightforward character and while she is great at the “living” part of managing the country, she fails at the “culture” aspect.

By the end, they both realize that their strengths are what’s needed to manage the country effectively. Max is an artist, so we get the usual stray cat-like tropes with him, but the usual initial aversion is replaced by playful spontaneity. He’s also super flirtatious and manages to make the cheesiest sayings romantic. Also, MC realizes she loves Max early in the story, and they actually become a couple waaaay before it ends too. yay2

Their relationship is so much fun to read! kyaa I’ll have to do a more detailed review soon, because this is one route that deserves the several hours it takes to do a review like that! winkheart3

holllywhatMy heart scale is defined as follows5 hearts = a story everyone will fall in love with, regardless of preferences; 4 hearts = a well-done story that people who love the concept will adore, and people who don’t may end up liking it; 3 hearts = if you like this type of story or this type of hero, then you will enjoy this, but those who do not like either of those things will probably not; 2 hearts = it had potential, it squandered it; 1 heart = just a waste of time from the get-go; 0 hearts = why was this made?

  1. Max was so great. I loved how believable their chemistry was. Whoever wrote that banter is an expert!

I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the age comments, especially those about his body not being what it once was. He’s 36, not 80!

  2. I just finished Season 1 of Max Route… got Happy End yay! ^-^

Honestly I played it bc of your review… I’ve never played a Voltage game before mostly bc I was under the impression they used the ticket system and those avatar dress up games to proceed in the story which I positively abhor… LOL. I much prefer just paying for a story up front and I felt that $2.99 USD was verrrryyy reasonable considering how many hours of entertainment I got out of it. It was surprisingly long! Previously I had only played the Shall We Date series of games and while I prefer the BGMs and art style of those games, $4.99 per story can really add up…T___T so my wallet feels the burn too lol.

I’m taking a break from Max to try Ivan’s route… but I think I may come running back to Max Season 2 and Wedding Special very soon. Lol. I also thought it was odd that he makes those old age jokes so often. He’s only 36, jeez! Making me feel old too haha. Gaston/Gigi was my second favorite character and I wish also that they had fleshed out Yosef more since he’s your boss and seems like a nice person… need moar backstory.

Oddly my favorite thing about this game series is that you can let it run on auto…because I like to knit while reading and this way I can read the story AND knit at the same time without worrying about the text going too fast. ALL OTOME GAMES NEED THIS FEATURE imho. Lol. But I’m just a crazy multitasker. xD

  3. I feel you about the Freemium avatar-based games. Rants for HOOOUUURRRSSSSSSS about those horrid beasts.

I liked Ivan’s story! It has a lot of action. I think the romance parts weren’t as good. It kinda reminded me of a Bond flick hahaha

SO COOL I WISH I COULD KNIT TOO! I always mess up stitch counting LOL I love the auto feature too… but I’m just a lazy girl who likes to curl up and watch it like it’s TV xDDD YES, more games NEED it!

  4. Not going to lie, your reviews are leaving me broke here… 🙂

I downloaded this just for Max and have made through everyone but Aslan… twice. I think Max’s route was the most well rounded and I appreciate that they didn’t make the 28 year-old MC an “OMG he touched me, I’m going to die of embarrasment” innocent. Gigi is amazing, as well.

That said, I’ve been surprisingly happy with almost all of them. They each have bits I really enjoy. I’m not even sure I have a favorite. Sieg’s POV sub-story does drive him near the top though. His reaction to beaming her with the bouquet is golden.

  5. BMP 1 and 2 both have really good stories in them! I enjoyed both games a lot. 😀 The heroine in BMP2 edges out 1 for me, simply because I like to bake and I like baking heroines that actually can bake instead of making everything horrible LOL

I respect when the games have a more “adult” heroine. Leave the innocence for the first love/teenagers 😉

    Max is my clear favorite story for BMP2, but I enjoyed all of the bachelor’s stories save for Aslan. I adored Aslan’s sprite, but his story was lacking compared to the others. The Kuon CG where he’s in normal clothes with glasses is one of my all-time favorite Voltage CGs. H N N N N N N N N N G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G G
